Core Values
Integrity: We are honest, respectful and accountable.
Non-discrimination: We are impartial. Our choices are guided by merit.
Over the years, there have been several efforts to develop the rowing sport in Uganda including:
- A FISA donation of rowing equipment which for the first time provided a chance to Ugandans to learn the sport of rowing
- A growing partnership with the management of Country Lake Resort Garuga beach, Jinja Miami Beach, Kisubi Beach and Kaazi Sailing Club which gives us opportunities to conduct our training in their premises.
- FISA sponsored coaching course for level I which laid a foundation for athlete training.
The Federation is developing a sound profile of national and international achievements from the previous participations in both the regional and international championships including:
- Won silver medal at the Sub-Saharan Africa rowing championship in Doula, Cameroon
- Team Uganda was champions of the 2ndEast African Rowing Championships in 2011- women category, which were hosted by the Kenya Rowing/Canoe Federation in Bumbe, Kenya
- With support from FISA and local partners, we have sent a team of 2 rowers and a coach to the World Junior and Senior Rowing Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria- the first time that Ugandans compete at an international event.
- Represented the Country in the Africa Rowing Champs and several others
The 4th East and Central African Rowing Championships
After successful participation in the 3rd Championship where we performed well, through the delegation that traveled to Kenya, the president Uganda Rowing Federation requested we host the next event.
Through the international body FISA, we have trained coaches through level 1 in 2013 and yet to conduct level 2 coaching course this February together with an Umpiring Course to have technical people who can officiate during the championships.
FISA has also pledged to cover 20% of our budget for the championship which give us a boost in preparations for the championships where we hope to host about 6 countries within the region.
This Championship also looks at preparing Three of our exceptional athletes Gerald, Alfred and Constance for the 2016 Olympics in Rio to give them morale and inspire more of our other athletes to work harder for qualifications. We have already one Athlete (Constance) for the Youth Olympics in nijing this Year and yet to qualify another (Alfred) .The Championship on the FISA website http://www.worldrowing.com/news/east-and-central-african-championships-scheduled-for-march-2014
